Design Consultancy

Technology designed in from first principles — never retrofitted around finished architecture.

We engage at concept stage and carry the full design package through to tender — RIBA Stages 2 and 3 in the UK, or the equivalent Concept, Schematic, and Design Development gateways on FIDIC and developer-led frameworks across the GCC.

Deliverables are produced in BIM/Revit as standard: a fully federated, clash-free model coordinated with M&E and structural teams, so containment, cable routing, and interfaces are resolved before they ever reach site. Every system is bespoke — no template designs, no preferred-vendor shortcuts, no junior team.

Value Engineering

Not cost-cutting — disciplined interrogation of a specification to buy performance, not just savings.

Done properly, value engineering identifies where equivalent or superior performance can be achieved more efficiently — without eroding design intent, quality, or long-term reliability. We bring it at any stage: ahead of tender, during procurement, or retrospectively against an installed system.

Because we hold no commercial relationship with any manufacturer, our analysis is genuinely impartial. Substitutions come with full comparative documentation; where a specification is right as drawn, we say so. For existing buildings, every recommendation is costed, risk-assessed, and sequenced — a clear programme, not a theoretical report.

Supply, Installation & Commissioning

Turnkey delivery by engineers who came up where failure was never an option.

Full turnkey supply, installation, and commissioning across AV, unified communications, automation, and integrated technology — executed by qualified engineers trained in ultra-luxury residential, marine, government, and mission-critical commercial environments.

We work fluently across Samsung, Cisco, Crestron, Extron, Shure, Biamp, and beyond — deploying what the specification demands, not what a supply agreement dictates. Commissioning is carried out to AVIXA standards against the full design documentation: signal paths verified, control logic confirmed, failover exercised. We do not sign off a system until it performs to specification.

Quality Survey & Assurance

Quality isn't a stage-gate at the end — it's the governing principle from the first line of design.

Every McRay design package passes rigorous internal review, then goes to the relevant manufacturers for technical attestation — compatibility confirmed and application risks caught before they can become site problems. Nothing is assumed; nothing is left unresolved at inception.

On site, our engineers are not project managers watching from a distance: they are technically qualified professionals who can spot a non-compliant installation and direct the correction before it is buried behind a finished wall. At commissioning, every system is witnessed against the full specification — and post-handover, we offer structured auditing and long-term maintenance strategy so the standard never moves.

Automation, BMS & GRMS

Every system in the building, unified under one coherent, maintainable control architecture.

Lighting, shading, HVAC, AV, access, and energy each serve a purpose in isolation — the real engineering is making them one. In hospitality, that means GRMS across hundreds of rooms: welcome scenes, in-room preferences, energy recovery, and full operational reporting, invisible to the guest and indispensable to the operator. In corporate environments, it means one-touch control of genuinely complex multi-system spaces.

We work across Crestron, KNX, DALI, and Lutron — selecting the architecture that serves the project, not a distribution relationship. And because efficiency is an engineering objective from the outset, our systems run at optimised load: less power, less heat, longer hardware life, and a measurably smaller carbon footprint. LEED accreditation is in progress — formalising a responsibility we have always taken seriously.
